Of Attica. Teuthrania, a city of Mysia, from Teuthras. Tibarenia, a region by the Pontus, neighboring the Chalybes and the Mossynoeci. Tourdetania, a region of Iberia, which is also called Baetica from the river Baetis; but Artemidorus calls it itself Tourtytania. Troezen was called Saronia. Tyrrhenia, a region by the Adriatic. There is also a city Tyrrhenia, which is also called Tyrrhene. Hyrcania, a city of Thrace. Chaonia, the middle part of Epirus. Chattenia, the third region of the Gerraei. Polybius, book 13: “And Chattenia is in other respects wretched, but is furnished with villages and towers because of the convenient position of the Gerraei; for these people occupy it.” And it is of the Red Sea. Chonia, a region of the Oenotrians. Lycophron (v. 983): “watering the deep all-allotted land of Chonia.” But ῥοδωνιά and ἰωνιά indicate an inclusive local sense; and the Χελιδονιαί rocks—there are two so called, one Corydela, the other Melanippeia, as Favorinus says in the Miscellanies—and Ἁζηνιά, a deme in Attica of the Hippothoontis tribe. And further, ἱμονιά, the bailer, among the Attic writers is accented on the acute. But ἁρμονιῇσιν in “and with bolts he struck it too, and with ἁρμονιῇσιν he dashed it” (ε 248) is an Ionic lowering. Words ending in long -α with penult in -ρι are accented on the penult: αἰθρία, κοπρία, ὑδρία in the sense of the vessel, but in the sense of drawing water ὑδρεία; φατρία and φρατρία, which is the third part of a tribe, which some call τριττύς. θεωρία. Allaria, a city of Crete. Polybius in the thirteenth book. Aria, a Persian region, as Hellanicus says. Aeria, Egypt, from the air; for they also say it is ἠερόεσσα. There is also a Celtic city Aeria, as Apollodorus says in the fourth book of the Chronicles. And there is another of Crete, not obscure, which was called the island Aeria and Idaia and Doliche because of its length. And that Thasos too was so called is clear from the oracle given to the father of Archilochus: “Report to the Parians, Telesicles, as I command you, to found in the island Ἠερίη a city conspicuous from afar.” Assyria, a region around Babylon. Asteria, a city of Syria; it is also called Asteris. There is also a little island Asteria between Cephallenia and Ithaca; Homer calls this one Asteris (Od. δ 844). Thus Delos too was called. Barbaria, a region by the Arabian Gulf. Melaria, a city at the ends, from the apples which Heracles is said to have brought from Libya, called golden. Galaria, a region of Sicily.
