Seventh. Κύμη, a city of Aeolis opposite Lesbos, from Κύμη the Amazon; there is also another in Italy; a third in Elis; a fourth in Pamphylia. Δύμη, a city of Achaea, the farthest toward the west, whence Callimachus too in the epigrams: “as he goes to Δύμη, that of the Achaeans.” It is also said in the plural, as Apollodorus: “distant from these by 120 stades, the farthest, toward the west, lie Δῦμαι.” Δρύμη, a city of Libya. Strabo, book 17. It has been noted that the appellative τιμή is accented with an acute; but Τίμη, the proper name, is accented with a grave. The words in -μη, of more than two syllables, having υ in the penult, are accented with a grave: Οἰσύμη, a city of Macedonia. Thucydides, book 4 (c. 107). This Αἰσύμη Homer (Il. The words in -νη, of one gender, with a consonant cluster, are accented with a grave: πάχνη, λάχνη, ἄχνη; and Ἄχναι, a city of Thessaly—there is also one of Boeotia—τέχνη; Αἴτνη, a city of Sicily near Catana, a foundation of Hieron, as …; φάτνη; δάφνη; and Δάφνη, a very notable suburb of eastern Antioch. There is also another Δάφνη, a district of Lycia; and another near Pelusium, from the many laurels growing there. ὄρφνη: the night. Ἴγνη, a city near Priapus. Ἴχναι, a city of Macedonia. Herodotus, book 7 (c. 123). Eratosthenes, however, says it is Ἄχνας; Philetas says another with α. There is also another city in the east. λίμνη; and Λίμναι, a city in the Hellespont, near Sestus: Hecataeus in Europe. And there is another place of Attica called Λίμναι, where Dionysus was honored. Callimachus: “and for Λιμναῖος they led choral festivals.” Ὄννη, an emporium of Arabia Felix. ποίμνη. Βάτναι, a city of Osrhoene.
