Sigeion, a city of the Troad, as Strabo says in the thirteenth book. Lageion, the hippodrome of Alexandria, from a certain Lagos. Lykeion, the gymnasium at Athens. Gytheion, a city of Laconia. Lykophron: «δισσὰς σαλάμβας κ´ ἀπὸ Γυθείου πλακάς» (v. 98). Some say that it was called Pythion—wrongly. Serreion, a promontory of Thrace. There is also a city of Samothrace. It is also called Serra, whose genitive, according to the Ionians, is Σέρρης. Laureion, a place in Attica having mines. Phikeion, a mountain of Boeotia. This, however, is also found with short ι. Perhaps it has run together with Ῥύτιον, Αἴγιον, Σούνιον. Lepreion, a city of the Kaukonoi. Roiteion, a city of the Troad. Phyteion, a city of Hollow Elis; Istros, in the fourth book of the Eliaka, says that it was named from Phyteus. Kraneion, a gymnasium in Corinth. Naxeion, the mountain. Ascheion, a city of Achaea. Teneion, a city of Achaea. Tibeion, a place of Phrygia, from a certain Tibios. Syleion, a city of Phrygia—spelled with double λ and with single; it is also written Σύλαιον. Phineion, a place in Pontus, a foundation of Phineus. Chalkeia, a city of Libya. The polymath, in the third book of the Libyka, says so, as does Demosthenes; reproaching him, Polybius in the twelfth book writes as follows: «but he is greatly ignorant also about the chalkeia; for it is not even a city, but bronze-working establishments». There is also a Chalkeia of Caria. Onkeion, a district of Arcadia, from Onkos who held power, as Pausanias makes clear in the eighth book (c. 25, 4). Mouseion, a place near Olympus in Macedonia. Polybius in the thirty-seventh. Lyrkeion, a mountain of Argos. Callimachus in the Hekale. Zoiteion, a city of Arcadia. Pausanias viii (27, 3 et 35, 27). It is also called Zoiteia, from Zoiteus. Aphneion, a city of Phrygia near the city of Kyzikos or of Miletos, either from Aphneios or from Aphneia, a Naiad nymph. There is also a city of Lydia. Gambreion, a city of Ionia; it is written with a diphthong, as the form Γαμβρήϊον shows. Ti(e)ion: thus Strabo in the twelfth says that Tion is a city of Paphlagonia in Pontus. But Ἰσεῖον, a city of Egypt, is circumflexed on the antepenult, like Ἰρεῖον and Νεμεσεῖον and as many sanctuary-names as did not preserve the δ of the genitive: for such is the pattern. The trisyllables in -ειον, having only ν in the penult, are accented on the antepenult if the syllable before the last ends in a single vowel: ὄνειον, κόνειον.
