Limēn, one of the cities in Rhodes. Syedra, a city of Isauria. Bárathron, a hollow place and a trench so called; there are also Bárathra near Casium. Tábathra, a city of Libya. Polybius in the twelfth book. Kánastron, a promontory of Thrace and Macedonia; it is also called Kanastraeum. Áthymbra, a city of Caria on the Maeander, a foundation of Athymbrus, which afterwards was called Nyssa. Palímbothra, a city of India. Phálakron, a headland of Corcyra, as Artemidorus says in the fifth book of his Geography. Pánakron, a city of Cyprus; and there are also the Pánakra, mountains of Crete. Callimachus: “on the Idaean mountains, as they enclose Pánakra.” Tégestra, a city of Illyria near Aquileia, from Tégestrus. Artemidorus, however, knows it as Tégestros itself and as a village: “from the village of Tégestros and the innermost gulf to the Adriatic, 1,025 stades.” The words in -ρον, of more than two syllables, with a long penult, are accented with the antepenult: Ámēron, the name of a mountain; ándēron, the bank of rivers; Kýthēron, an island having a city of the same name near Crete, from Kýthēros the Phoenician. Phálēron, a deme and harbor of Attica; Pausanias in the first book of the Description of Greece (c. 1, 2); and in the plural, Phálēra. There is also another in Thessaly near Oeta, which Rhianus writes with α, saying Phálaron, and Phálēron with η. There is also a city among the Opici, into which Parthenopē the Siren was cast up, which is called Neapolis. Ábdēra: two cities; the one in Thrace, from Ábdēros, the son of Hermes, beloved of Heracles, whom the horses of Diomedes tore apart, as Hellanicus and others say; the second in Iberia near Gadeira, as Artemidorus in the second book of his Geography. Alíphēra, a city of Arcadia, from Alíphēros, son of Lycaon; the penult is found written with a diphthong. Básēra, a city of Phoenicia. áblēron, the rein; eúlēron, of a garment and of a bond. áleuron, phthinópōron, metópōron, pélōron, knéōron, a thorny plant. Kýtōron, a city of Paphlagonia; but some say Kýtōros. Kotýōra, a village on the Pontus, as Arrian. Anníchōron; Alcman mentions it. Mainóbōra, a city of the Mastieni; Hecataeus in Europe. Ássōron, a mountain of Samos, whence the Amphilyssus flows. Euphorion to Artemidorus: “a divinity who [dwells] by the stream of Amphilyssus ….” Ísavra, a city; but Chárax is feminine. Mástavra, a city of Lydia, from Mâs. Mâ followed Rhea, to whom Zeus entrusted Dionysus to rear; and Mâ, when asked by Hera whose the infant was, said it was Ares’. And among the Carians Dionysus was therefore called Másaris. Rhea too was called Mâ, and a bull was sacrificed to her among the Lydians, from whom the city [took its name]. Ándeira, a city.
