And many (instances) too in the direct form of the neuter plurals: “or do you care for me as a father (cares) for good (things)?” (Od. ρ 397), “it is not good to put this anger in (your heart)” (Il. Ζ 326), “show favorable signs to all” (Η 184), “there then for the Argives a return beyond what is fated was brought about” (Β 155), “often very closely groaning” (Φ 417), “often of a poet” (Σ 608), not preserving the sound of the noun, but by dropping the ‘ν’ making it barytone: ὠκέα → ὦκα, σαφέα → σάφα, κρατέα → κράτα and in hyperthesis κάρτα; ἀντία, as in “instead of Alexandros the goddess set (it) down, bearing (it)” (Il. Γ 425), and ἄντα; and in these the accent has been raised after the removal of the ‘ε’ or the ‘ι’. But θαμά is oxytone from θαμός, which is oxytone. “You write beautifully and converse very swiftly.” From ἐτεόν, which is oxytone, (come) “but truly, being like (them)” and ἐτεά. And again from ἐτός, which is oxytone, ἐτά oxytone, as “ἐτὰ of Temenides, a golden race,” and similarly in all cases.
