Definition of προσῳδία as the pitch/intonation (accent) of a written vocal sound in recitation, expressed with a connected element over one syllable, either by customary dialect or by analogy; term noted as defined by Herodian in his work On General Prosodies.
Accentuation is a certain pitch of a sound, articulated and healthy, produced in accordance with the recitative character of the word, together with one of the tones conjoined upon a single syllable, either as is acknowledged by the customary usage of a dialect, or according to the analogical rule and principle. (And this rule Herodian defined in his work On Accentuation in General.)
