He says Ἀρκάδας for the city, but Ἀρκαδίαν. Ὀλκάς: a people of the Iberians who live on this side of the river Iberus. Polybius in the third book. Νουβάς: a people of Libya by the Nile, who are also called Νοῦβαι and Νουβαῖοι. Ἑλλάς: a city of Thessaly—“many Achaean women there are in Ἑλλάς and in Phthia” (Il. 9, 395). It was founded by Hellen—not the son of Deucalion, but the son of Phthius and Chrysippe daughter of Irus. There is also another city Ἑλλάς in Coele Syria. Παλλάς. ἐθάς. ἰκμάς, from the fact that it comes down from above to us from Zeus as he rains. μονάς. Ἐχινάς: islands off Aetolia, which are also called Ἐχῖναι. λαμπάς. Δειράς: a deme of the Leontis tribe; πολυδειράς, ἀναδενδράς. Χοιράδες: a city of the Mossynoeci. Hecataeus in the Europa: “And next to the Tibareni toward the rising sun the Mossynoeci border; and among them is the city Χοιράδες.” Λυμφάς: a city of Arcadia. Pausanias in the eighth book (c. 34, 6). Στροφάς: two islands off Zacynthus. ἰσχάς. Στοιχάς: three islands off Massalia. Πανεάς: a small town of Phoenicia. δυάς. τριάς. ῥυάς. πλειάς. πελειάς: “and the doves went on their way, the trembling πελειάδες” (Il. 5, 778), which is also πελειά. Ἰάς: a part of Illyria; and the ethnic is feminine. Φθιάς, in Euripides’ Andromache (v. 119): “yet a Φθιάς.” Διάς: a city of Lycia, which Diades founded. Σκιάς: a district of Arcadia. Τρῳάς: the land of Ilium. Πεδιάς: a tribe of Attica. Μενουθιάς: an island of Ethiopia. Θυνιάς: an island by the mouth of the Pontus, and a headland. Ξυνιάς: a lake, which they call Βοιβιάς. Ἀπολλωνιάς: thus some say the city Κυπάρισσος is called; and Troezen too was so called, which is also Ποσειδωνιάς. Κωλιάς: a headland at Phaleron, where there is also Aphrodite Κωλιάς. The place is correctly so called: for it lies out and resembles a man’s thigh. Ἰξιάς: a city of the Oenotrians inland. Hecataeus in the Europa: “and in it is the city Ἰξιάς, and in it the city Μενεκίνη.” Ἰδριάς: a city of Caria, from Idrieus, son of Carus. Τιβεριάς: a city of Judaea by the lake Gennesaritis. Φαλωριάς: a city of Locris. Δημητριάς: a city of Thessaly, from Demetrius who ruled; a second in Macedonia; a third in Persis near Arbela. Διοσκουριάς: one of the White Islands in Libya. There is also another near the Pontus, which is called Σεβαστόπολις; and earlier it was called Αἶα, as Nicanor says. Μεθουριάς: islands between Aegina and Attica near Troezen. Androtion in the fifth book of the Atthis. Προυσιάς: a city of Bithynia, from Prusias son of Zeilas, king of the Bithynians, formerly called Cius. Ἀφροδισιάς: a city of Cilicia, about which Alexander Polyhistor in his work On Cilicia says that Zopyrus says it was named from Aphrodite, and he also writes histories. A second is in Iberia among the Celts.
